Eulalee Hyacinth Cassell, RN, MSN, retired Adjunct Faculty at Monroe College and retired Remote Access Nurse at the Veterans Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care.

With over two decades of experience in health care, Ms. Cassell has built a distinguished career specializing in nursing, emergency medicine, and advanced medical-surgical nursing. Though retired, she continues to contribute as a remote access nurse at the Veterans Hospital in the Bronx and as an adjunct faculty member at Monroe College since 2016 and Adelphi University since 2015. In her adjunct roles, she has taught full-time in nursing programs, focusing on preparing future nurses through degree-based education. As a remote access nurse, his responsibilities include assessing patients who call for assistance, utilizing telephone consultations to evaluate patient conditions, providing essential care guidance, and determining whether home care suffices or if a trip to the emergency room is necessary. Her roles encompassed patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to ensure patients receive appropriate care. Her experience also includes serving as a full-time faculty member at Montefiore Health System from 2014 to 2016 and as a staff registered nurse at Montefiore Medical Center from 2003 to 2014.

Laying a solid educational foundation, Ms. Cassell earned a Master of Science in nurse education from Mercy University in 2009 and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice at Chamberlain University. She is certified in medical-surgical nursing and is a proud member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. Reflecting on her path, her inspiration to pursue nursing began with her early experiences as a nursing assistant. Her increasing engagement and eagerness to take on more responsibilities led her to advance in the field.

While certified in medical-surgical nursing, Ms. Cassell’s true passion lies in emergency medicine, where she has spent most of her career. She finds emergency medicine particularly fulfilling because it allows nurses to take a more active and integral role in patient care beyond following doctors’ instructions. She values the fast-paced environment of the emergency department, where she can see the immediate impact of her work on patients as they recover quickly and are ready to continue their care journey.

Ms. Cassell takes great pride in her achievements, especially considering the challenges she overcame growing up in one of Jamaica’s smallest and poorest villages. In the coming years, she plans to engage in research and publications, while remaining active in her field for as long as possible. Although health issues prompted her retirement, she is committed to continuing her work in nursing. Her immediate goal is to complete her doctorate in nursing, a step she sees as essential for reaching her long-term aspirations. Her ultimate aim is to focus on education and mentorship, supporting the development of other nurses. She envisions contributing to the profession through teaching, mentoring, and potentially consulting, further expanding her impact on the field of nursing.
