Rashana R. Wilson, BSN, Registered Nurse and Traveling Veteran Care Coordinator at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements and leadership in Nursing.

Ms. Wilson’s career in health care is marked by a steadfast commitment to learning and community contribution. Her journey began as a medical assistant for over five years before transitioning into nursing. In her current role as a registered nurse and traveling veteran care coordinator for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs since 2025, Ms. Wilson coordinates care for veterans traveling or relocating across the U.S. She previously served as a PACT registered nurse care manager for the department from 2021 to 2025.

Earlier, Ms. Wilson was affiliated with DaVita Inc., a company headquartered in Denver, Colorado, that specializes in providing treatment for those living with end-stage kidney disease. Hired as a staff registered nurse in 2013, she later transitioned into the role of health operations manager from 2020 to 2021. During her tenure at DaVita Inc., Ms. Wilson simultaneously worked as an oncology registered nurse at Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute from 2016 to 2020. Based in Fort Myers, it serves as the largest independent medical oncology/hematology practice in the U.S.

In preparation for her future, Ms. Wilson earned an Associate of Science in medical and clinical assisting from Webster University in 2004. She continued her education at the College of Central Florida, where she obtained an Associate of Science in nursing in 2010 and a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 2019.

As a member of the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing since 2024, Ms. Wilson continues to engage with industry-related organizations that support her growth and development. Beyond her professional endeavors, she co-founded the Black Nurses Rock’s Ocala, Florida, chapter, focusing on addressing health care disparities within the community through local health fairs and educational initiatives.

Well-rounded in all areas of nursing, Ms. Wilson’s expertise in nursing staff leadership, team management, patient satisfaction, process improvement and many other areas of the field has been pivotal in shaping her career progression. Her professional journey has become distinguished by her passion for nursing, driven by personal experiences that have shaped her commitment to the field. Moreover, Ms. Wilson’s attention to detail and nurturing spirit have extended beyond work, setting her apart in her profession.

In recognition of her hard work, dedication and compassionate care, Ms. Wilson has been honored with multiple awards, including the I Care Awards from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in 2025 and 2026. She also received an Excellence Award from the Ocala, Florida, chapter of Black Nurses Rock.

Born in Central Florida, Ms. Wilson is deeply family-oriented, attributing much of her success to the support of her husband and six children. Looking ahead, she intends to complete a Master of Science in nursing, leadership and management at Western Governors University, which she began pursuing in 2025. She aims to leverage her education to secure a leadership or executive position within the veteran health system. Additionally, Ms. Wilson aspires to continue making meaningful contributions to the health care field by pursuing entrepreneurship, potentially establishing a medical spa that will specialize in oncology patient care.
