In this capacity, Ms. Coones draws upon her extensive clinical knowledge and case management expertise to improve patient outcomes and promote wellness.
Simultaneously serving as a case management nurse at Cambia Health Solutions, Inc., in Boise, Idaho, since 2021, Ms. Coones coordinates comprehensive care plans for patients with complex health needs. Her dual responsibilities within the organization underscore her versatility and dedication to advancing quality care.
Before joining her organization, Ms. Coones worked briefly as a case management nurse at Healthmap Solutions, an NCQA-accredited kidney population health management company in Tampa, Florida, in 2021. During this period, she contributed to the development and implementation of individualized care strategies, ensuring that patients received tailored support throughout their health care journeys.
From 2020 to 2021, Ms. Coones held the same title of case management nurse at Saint Luke’s Health System in Boise. In this role, she collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate seamless transitions of care, including post-acute care services such as home health and hospice, while advocating for patient-centered solutions.
Among other positions, Ms. Coones was a registered nurse case manager at the VA Boise Healthcare System, working closely with veterans and assisting with their various health needs. She was also a registered nurse case manager at Blue Cross of Idaho. Ms. Coones began her career in the field as a staff registered nurse at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in 2011, where she gained foundational experience in medical-surgical nursing.
Ms. Coones began her formal nursing education by obtaining an Associate of Applied Science in nursing from Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyoming, in 2010. Subsequently, she earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in nursing from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City in 2015 and 2024, respectively.
In addition to her formal education, Ms. Coones holds multiple certifications that attest to her advanced competencies and dedication to ongoing professional development. She received registered nurse licensure from the state of Idaho in 2013, the state of Oregon in 2021, the state of Illinois in 2022 and the state of California in 2024. She also received a certified case manager credential from the Commission for Case Manager Certification in 2017, a certified professional in health care quality designation from the National Association for Healthcare Quality in 2022, and a CPR/AED certification for professional rescuers from the American Heart Association, Inc., in 2024.
Ms. Coones has been an active member of the American Nurses Association since 2016, a testament to her ongoing commitment to excellence in nursing. She has also been a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing since 2023. Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Coones is dedicated to civic engagement through volunteer service with Girls on the Run International and the Alzheimer’s Association.
Throughout her career, Ms. Coones has demonstrated resilience and determination, particularly while pursuing graduate studies and raising three children simultaneously. She attributes her success to the values instilled by her parents, who emphasized hard work from an early age, and to the mentorship of her nursing professors at Sheridan College.
Looking ahead, Ms. Coones aims to continue supporting individuals with diabetes while refining her approach to make a greater impact. She also plans to become more involved in local initiatives and focus on community engagement and giving back.
