Mishaun Frances Newman, MSN, Nurse Practitioner at Newman Primary Care, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements and leadership in Health Care.
Ms. Newman has earned a stellar reputation in the health care sector, marked by her commitment to patient-centered care and community engagement. Since 2023, she has served as a nurse practitioner at Newman Primary Care, providing primary care services and specializing in administering hormone replacement therapy. As the founder and operator of her medical practice, Ms. Newman is most proud of building a family-style environment that prioritizes long-term patient relationships. Her team includes a front desk staff member who was once a patient and a medical assistant who has worked alongside her at four previous practices, both of whom have significantly contributed to the growth and stability of Newman Primary Care.
Since launching her practice, Ms. Newman has grown her patient base from zero to 1,800 individuals, including 250 receiving hormone replacement therapy. Her dedication to her patients is recognized through the attention she gives to them, putting their needs at the forefront. Notably, many of her patients have direct access to Ms. Newman through her personal cellphone number, reflecting the trust and accessibility she fosters.
In addition to managing her practice, Ms. Newman works with two local hospice companies, conducting face-to-face visits required for patient recertification. Earlier, she gained experience in several clinical settings. She worked in private practice, contributing to both the internal medicine and cardiology departments. Her background also included serving as an urgent care nurse at Community Health Systems’ Valley View Medical Center, where she addressed the acute medical needs of patients.
Ms. Newman’s professional journey began with a focus on internal medicine at a private practice, then expanded into pediatrics and family medicine through locum tenens roles. She later transitioned to urgent care and cardiology before returning to family practice, a decision influenced by differences in professional standards with previous partners and the loyalty of her patient base. Ms. Newman’s natural inclination to care for others led her to nursing, with a particular affinity for geriatric patients, who now comprise most of her caseload.
Beyond clinical responsibilities, Ms. Newman is dedicated to mentoring future health care professionals. Over the past few years, she has guided three nurse practitioner students annually and currently teaches a fourth-semester student from Walden University in Phoenix, Arizona, one day each week. Her instruction focuses on preparing students for board examinations and ensuring proficiency in assessments, diagnoses and treatment planning. Moreover, Ms. Newman regularly hosts evening question-and-answer sessions at her office to inform residents about hormone therapy options for men and women at various life stages.
Ms. Newman’s educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in nursing from Graceland University. She is also recognized as a certified Bio-T provider, which supports her specialized work in hormone replacement therapy.
Active in her professional community, Ms. Newman is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, demonstrating her commitment to professional development and industry standards. Civically engaged, she donates to Desert Light Christian Academy to support activities that foster student bonding and engagement.
Ms. Newman’s dedication was recognized when Newman Primary Care was featured in the fifth annual Top Doctors and Medical Providers Special Section for Mohave County. She has credited her success to the unwavering support of her community, fellow providers and dedicated staff, many of whom have remained with her for over a decade. The encouragement from colleagues during the launch of Ms. Newman’s practice was also instrumental. They assisted with credentialing and provided essential equipment, enabling her to serve patients with minimal initial investment.
Remaining steadfast in her mission to ensure every patient feels genuinely cared for under her guidance, Ms. Newman hopes this legacy continues to grow through compassionate service and unwavering dedication to those she serves. Looking ahead, she also plans to continue providing exemplary primary care while expanding educational outreach around hormone replacement therapy within her community.
