Building on a foundation of nearly 20 years in nursing, Ms. Mensinger currently serves as a nurse navigator and program coordinator at Geisinger Medical Center, roles that she accepted in 2022. She began her professional life as a restaurant manager, starting a part-time job cleaning Geisinger Medical Center in the evenings. Ms. Mensinger loved the environment at Geisinger so much that she decided to continue working part-time there while entering nursing school in order to contribute to the organization even more. She was further motivated to pursue nursing by a lifelong interest in human anatomy and health. Ms. Mensinger began her career as a registered nurse with a focus on lactation consultation in 2006. Across 10 years as a lactation consultant, she helped launch Geisinger’s human donor milk program, greatly aiding struggling new mothers and their infants.

Throughout her lengthy tenure at Geisinger Medical Center, Ms. Mensinger has been promoted to positions of increasing responsibility, including coordinator of women’s health services, nurse care coordinator, and finally, her current roles. As a nurse navigator and program coordinator, she oversees the organization’s prenatal pediatrics department. Despite often working with challenging cases, she prides herself on meeting patients where they are, making sure they’re educated on the best possible options and supporting them with empathy and kindness.

Ms. Mensinger’s academic background commenced with an Associate of Science in nursing from the Pennsylvania College of Technology in 2001. Subsequently, she earned a bachelor’s degree in maternal and child health from Union Institute & University in 2008. Ms. Mensinger has furthered her credentials with certification in basic life support, neonatal resuscitation and lactation consulting. She attributes her success to the support of her family and her unwavering motivation to achieve her goals, as well as Geisinger’s willingness to encourage her education and career advancement. Ms. Mensinger’s accomplishments have been recognized with such accolades as the Pennsylvania College of Technology’s National Collegiate Award and being twice named Employee of the Month by Geisinger Medical Center.

In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Mensinger has fostered a reputation for giving freely to the wider community. She volunteers for The Women’s Center Inc. and Footprints of Montgomery Inc. In the past, Ms. Mensinger has offered support as an equine volunteer for Special Olympics Pennsylvania and as a horse handler for the Random Canyon Therapeutic Riding Program. She is also a staunch advocate for her local food bank.

Beyond her career, Ms. Mensinger is a loving mother to two children and enjoys kayaking, axe throwing, and engaging with women’s leagues. She plans to stay with Geisinger Medical Center for the foreseeable future, aiming to expand and improve on the programs she has already developed. In particular, Ms. Mensinger hopes to create a bereavement support system that can be utilized throughout Geisinger’s facilities. As with the whole of her career, her focus rests wholly on creating the strongest and most nurturing environment possible for her patients, no matter how difficult their medical situations.
