Rebecca Jane Zitta, RN, Director of Nurses (Retired) at Starkville Manor Nursing Home, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing administration.
Now retired after a fruitful career in nursing, Ms. Zitta found success as the director of nurses with Starkville Manor Nursing Home for six years. Previously, she had worked for the aforementioned nursing home in a full-time capacity for more than seven years after five years of operating in a part-time capacity. Following her retirement, Ms. Zitta proudly volunteered as a parish nurse for more than 10 years, during which time she focused on medical-surgical nursing, obstetrics and pediatrics.
Prior to her tenure at the Starkville Manor Nursing Home, Ms. Zitta had previously refined her skills in nursing before taking an extensive sabbatical to raise her children. Over the course of her professional efforts, she was recruited to the board for Oscerves, an organization started by former members of the American Red Cross. As a testament to her ability to help others, Ms. Zitta was celebrated with a number of accolades from Starkville Manor Nursing Home, including several awards upon her retirement.
Before embarking upon her professional path, Ms. Zitta obtained her diploma as a registered nurse at the Stuart Circle Hospital School of Nursing in 1961. She has been affiliated with a number of organizations outside of her field, including the Nurses Christian Fellowship. Ms. Zitta was likewise associated with the Auxiliary of the Gideons International.
Ms. Zitta has attributed her success to her family, who instilled within her the faith and values she needed to be a responsible and ethical adult and ultimately enabled her to put her patients first during her career. She was drawn to the field of nursing in her youth as her interactions with nurses during a significant surgery in her early teenage years made a substantial impression on her. Incredibly proud of her results from the annual inspections at the Starkville Manor Nursing Home, she is also noted as a breast cancer survivor. Looking toward the future, Ms. Zitta plans on dedicating her spare time to her wonderful grandchildren.
