Drawing upon nearly 50 years of experience in nursing, Ms. Buttner is recognized as an accomplished registered nurse who has worked in a plethora of capacities since the inception of her career in the early 1970s. After receiving a diploma from the Massachusetts General Nursing School in 1973, she went on to serve various hospitals, clinics and rehabilitation facilities. Notably, she worked as a floor nurse on the surgical floor for seven years, as well as an emergency department nurse, visiting nurse and charge nurse of the labor and delivery floor for nine years. Likewise, she has lent her considerable expertise to a daytime rehabilitation center for intellectually disabled adults, where she was a case manager, and several schools as a per diem school nurse.
For the past 13 years, Ms. Buttner has served as a one-on-one registered nurse with a medically fragile young woman with whom she accompanied to public school from the time she was in fourth grade until she turned 22 years old. Currently, Ms. Buttner works part-time with her patient, visiting her home once per week and taking care of her patient’s medical necessities. Ms. Buttner attributes her success to her persevering attitude and her ability to leverage the training she received in nursing school. Looking toward the future, she intends to continue working in a nursing capacity, as well as perform enrichment activities for her patient of 13 years.
