With nearly four decades of experience to her credit, Ms. Millsaps has established a distinguished career in health care and nursing, specializing in neonatal care and education. Since 1984, she has served as a neonatal nurse practitioner with the University of Florida Health’s department of pediatrics. Her experience includes private practice in 1987 and work in neonatal intensive care units. In addition, she is a donor to the Jordan Thomas Foundation and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has also contributed to the field through her publications, including “Congenital Autoimmune Neutropenia in Two Premature Neonates” in 2001, “Enteral Glutamine Supplementation for Very Low Birth Weight Infants Decreases Morbidity” in 1997, and “Successful Treatment of Neonatal Aortic Thrombosis with Tissue Plasminogen Activator” in 1990.

Reflecting on her path, Ms. Millsaps takes great pride in her extensive experience treating countless babies worldwide over the course of her career. She also conducted groundbreaking research at the University of Florida on treating premature disease, specifically on congenital autoimmune neutropenia in two premature neonates. She is also a founding member of both the Pediatric Flight Team, ShandsCair, at the University of Florida Health and the Florida Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, established in 1989 to promote excellence in neonatal nursing through education, practice, and research. Beyond her professional achievements, she adopted a premature baby, now 20 years old, and has balanced her demanding career with single motherhood. She attributes her success to her determined mindset and steadfast commitment to never giving up. Looking to the future, she is dedicated to preserving and imparting clinical skills to the next generation of professionals, and plans to continue publishing articles, engage in international travel, and expand her volunteer work to make a broader impact.
