Title: Registered Nurse
Company: Community Nursing
Location: Portland, Oregon, United States

Claudia Flores Ramirez, RN, registered nurse at Community Nursing, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care.

With seven years of experience to her credit, Ms. Flores has carved out a distinguished career in health care as a registered nurse specializing in community nursing and adult care. Currently excelling as a registered nurse at A&I Investments and BME Enterprises since 2017, she oversees several facilities and adult care homes for the aging and disabled while mentoring, teaching, and guiding staff and licensed practical nurses.

Prior to this position, Ms. Flores was active as a Spanish interpreter for Telelanguage from 2009 to 2023. Previously, she served as a caretaker at Flores Senior Care since 2008, providing dedicated care to senior residents. She began her career as a caretaker, where her passion for nursing and patient care was first ignited. Before embarking on her professional path, she pursued an education at Oregon Health & Science University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 2008.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Flores has participated in various civic activities, including volunteering at her church. She has also contributed to the nursing profession as a member of the international honor society of nurses, Sigma Theta Tau.

Ms. Flores attributes her success to her passion and determination. She has aspired to be a nurse from a young age. As a youth in Mexico, she witnessed nurses visiting her community to vaccinate children, sparking her interest in health care. After high school, her first job was as a caregiver in a dementia unit, further fueling her drive to become a nurse. Furthermore, she was the first in her family to graduate from university, setting a professional example for her sister, who also became a nurse. Additionally, she found inspiration from her father, who continuously inspired her to be something and follow her dreams, noting that her parents were always there for her every step of the way.

Ms. Flores defines success as the ability to do what you love. She finds the most rewarding aspects of her career to be the appreciation from families, the joyful expressions of her patients, and the strong relationships she builds with them. She values the opportunity to provide continuity of care and to be consistently available to those she serves, as little things make the biggest difference in their lives. Noting difficulties she has had to overcome in the nursing profession, such as burnout from being short-staffed, lack of resources, and people entering the field for the wrong reasons, she prides herself on being able to be present and show genuine compassion and care.

Looking ahead, Ms. Flores aspires to pursue a master’s degree in science. She also intends to focus on consulting work and contributing more to her community, with the potential of starting her own consulting business. For those aspiring to work in her industry, she advises approaching the profession with genuine passion. She believes that if you do it from the heart, you will persevere even on tough days and that it is essential to ensure that the work brings you joy.
