Gina M. Valecce, director of clinical operations at Optum, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in healthcare.

With 15 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Valecce has excelled as director of clinical operations at Optum Care Transitions, acquired by naviHealth, Inc., since 2020. In her role, she manages the day-to-day operations of charge nurses and therapists and ensures the team meets the necessary key performance indicators and metrics. She began her involvement with naviHealth as a care coordinator in 2013, a clinical team manager from 2013 to 2015, and a senior clinical manager from 2015 to 2020. She began her career as a charge nurse within the medical-surgical telemetry unit at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals from 2011 to 2013.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Valecce pursued an education at Loyola University Maryland, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in 1995. She continued her academic efforts at American University, graduating with a Master of Arts in international journalism in 1996. She concluded her studies Community College of Philadelphia, obtaining an associate of science in nursing in 2009. She is a registered nurse.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Valecce has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She contributed to the United Way and to Give Kids the World. In addition to her primary vocation, she remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the WOMEN Unlimited, Inc.

Ms. Valecce credits her achievements to her perseverance and strong work ethic. She worked in journalism for some time, but unfortunately, a divorce forced her to look for a career that offered more flexibility and a better income. She returned to school and earned an associate degree in nursing, which had long been an interest of hers. She quickly found success and fulfillment with her new career path and the many opportunities it offered her.

Ms. Valecce considers her growth in the healthcare industry as her most outstanding achievement. She joined naviHealth 11 years ago as a care coordinator and has worked her way up to become a director and a leader. Despite the challenges of working in healthcare, she takes pride in her ability to create a positive environment for her team. In the immediate future, she intends to pursue an executive leadership position and continue growing while serving others.
