With 41 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Henthorn has excelled as administrator at Silverado Hospice Los Angeles since 2023. She began her career as a registered nurse for Community Memorial Hospital from 1986 to 2001. She worked as a clinical trial site nurse at UCLA Health from 2005 to 2008. She established herself as a RN hospice case manager at Livingston Memorial VNA from 2008 to 2013 and at BuenaVista Hospice Care, Inc. from 2013 to 2015.
Ms. Henthorn continued her career as director of patient care services at Sacred Life Hospice & Palliative Care from 2015 to 2018 and at Los Robles Healthcare from 2018 to 2019. She garnered a stellar reputation as a patient care administrator at VITAS Healthcare from 2019 to 2023, where she ran the clinical program and served as an infection control nurse during the onset and height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before embarking on her professional path, she pursued an education at Ventura College where she earned an associate degree in nursing in 1983. She continued her academic efforts at the University of Phoenix, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 2005.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Henthorn has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She found success with her written works “The Rankin Focused Assessment-Ambulation: A Method to Score the Modified Rankin Scale with Emphasis on Walking Ability,” published in the Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, and “Prehospital Use of Magnesium Sulfate as a Neuroprotection in Acute Stroke,” published in The New England Journal of Medicine. She was involved in the Walk for Alzheimer’s Disease Association and other Alzheimer’s disease and dementia charity works.
In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Henthorn remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the Hospice & Palliative Nurses Association and a book club in her community. In light of her impressive undertakings, she has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was recognized by Sigma Theta Tau and Omicron Delta.
