She served as a registered nurse at Linden Grove from 2005 to 2010 and as a registered nurse care coordinator at IndependenceFirst from 2009 to 2014.

Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Hughes pursued an education at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis where she earned an associate degree in nursing in 1982. She obtained her nursing license in 1982 and has maintained and updated it since then. In light of her impressive undertakings, she has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was presented with a Going Above and Beyond Certificate from the Milwaukee County Mental Behavioral Health Association.

Ms. Hughes attributes her success to her three children. Having three children taught her how to advocate and fight for everything she wanted and believed she needed. She has carried those skills and insights into her nursing career in which she argues and battles for her patients’ wellbeing and care.

Ms. Hughes is renowned for fervently championing her clients. In the immediate future, she hopes to retire and become a resource for those entering the field.
