Karen S. Brazeal, RN, BSN, nurse manager at Norman Regional Health System, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in neonatal healthcare.

With nearly 30 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Brazeal has excelled as nurse manager at Norman Regional Health System since 2019, and as a registered nurse at same since 2008. She began her career as a nurse in the pulmonary and renal departments at Baptist Hospital in 1996. She served as a NICU nurse at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital in 2001. Prior to embarking on her professional path, she pursued an education at Rose State College before transferring to Oklahoma City University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She holds a certification as a registered nurse.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Brazeal has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She has written multiple grant proposals and volunteered with many organizations including the Special Olympics, the Salvation Army, and Ring the Bell. Moreover, she donated food and to feed children and families at the local school in her community. 

In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Brazeal remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, the National Association of Neonatal Nurses, Sigma Tau Delta, and was a member of her high school band, captain of the school’s drill team, and former vice president of her high school’s Leo Club. In light of her impressive undertakings, Ms. Brazeal has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was selected for inclusion in Who’s Who Among American High School Students. She secured the highest grade point average in her nursing program cohort. 

Ms. Brazeal’s most notable accomplishment was helping to obtain the joint commission perinatal care certification and the advanced perinatal care certification for the Maternal and Child Center at Norman Regional Health System. In the immediate future, she hopes to pursue and obtain a master’s degree in administration or law either at the University of Oklahoma or Oklahoma State University.
