Prior to her current post, Ms. Cabrera-Rainford was a registered nurse with Union Hospital in the Bronx, New York, and a senior staff nurse at the King Abdul Aziz Military Hospital in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, from 1986 to 1990. In 1982, she was a staff nurse with Our Lady of Peñafrancia Hospital in Catanduanes, Philippines. She has garnered further experience with the University of California, San Diego, and was a traveling registered nurse in California and Nevada.

Ms. Cabrera-Rainford prepared for her career at Catanduanes State University in the Philippines, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1981. She volunteered as a public health nurse with the United Nations Development Program in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, from 1982 to 1984, after which she immigrated to the United States in 1991. For her service, Ms. Cabrera-Rainford was honored by the World Health Organization and was named International Woman of the Year by the International Biographical Center in 1995. In 1993, she was featured in Who’s Who of Women in the World by the same institution.

To keep abreast of developments in her field, Ms. Cabrera-Rainford has been a member of the New York State Nurses Association. She has volunteered with The American Red Cross, and among her career accomplishments, she is proudest of working as a volunteer public health nurse in Sri Lanka with the United Nations and the World Health Organization. She attributes her success to her faith in God and her determination. Ms. Cabrera-Rainford loves her nursing career because she is able to make a difference by caring for her patients. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, singing, dancing, and sewing clothes and scrubs.
