Ms. Jacobsen has established herself as a dedicated and accomplished professional in the health care field, currently serving as a registered nurse and house supervisor at Manning Regional Healthcare Center in Manning, Iowa, since 2020. In this capacity, she demonstrates expertise in the emergency department and is recognized for her ability to contribute across multiple units, including the medical and surgical units, the specialty clinic and any area of the hospital where her assistance is needed. Ms. Jacobson’s commitment to patient care and leadership within the hospital has earned her significant respect among colleagues and patients alike.
Before her current role, Ms. Jacobsen built a strong foundation in health care through progressive hands-on experience, beginning her career as an emergency medical technician in 2016. Shortly thereafter, she earned certification as a nursing assistant in 2018. In 2020, Ms. Jacobsen achieved licensure as a practical nurse, further expanding her clinical capabilities. The following year, she became a registered nurse after completing requirements at Western Iowa Tech Community College.
In addition to these credentials, Ms. Jacobsen earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Walden University in 2022. Her educational journey began at Iowa State University, where she completed one year of coursework before deciding to focus more directly on medical studies. Ms. Jacobsen is currently pursuing a master’s degree to become a family nurse practitioner.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Ms. Jacobsen is committed to community service and education. Since 2016, she has volunteered as a paramedic with Carroll County Ambulance Service. She also supports public health initiatives by assisting with Stop the Bleed programs at schools and large companies and has provided cardiopulmonary resuscitation training since 2021. Ms. Jacobsen also finds fulfillment in mentoring future nurses by assisting with instruction at the college where she earned her nursing degree, helping students navigate challenges and discover rewarding careers in health care.
Throughout her career, Ms. Jacobsen has been recognized for her outstanding contributions to nursing. Among her most notable achievements was being named one of Iowa’s 100 Greatest Nurses in March 2025, an honor that reflects both her clinical expertise and compassionate approach to patient care.
Ms. Jacobsen attributes her success to several key influences. Beyond her genuine enjoyment of working with patients, she has strong communication and leadership skills and a deep knowledge of nursing practice.
Influenced by her grandmother, a longtime emergency department director at the former Manning Hospital, and encouraged by her sister, now a nurse practitioner, Ms. Jacobsen chose nursing for its flexibility and alignment with her passion for health care. She credits her family with their unwavering support and acknowledges the encouragement of hospital managers, who motivated her and her sister to pursue advanced nursing degrees.
Looking ahead, Ms. Jacobsen plans to complete her master’s degree, obtain licensure as a family nurse practitioner, and pursue teaching opportunities to further contribute to the next generation of nursing professionals.
