Her responsibilities include researching and implementing new training and safety-check requirements across states, as well as conducting one-on-one calls with nurses to ensure they have the necessary resources to succeed. Ms. Gustin’s expertise in assessment and compliance has been instrumental in elevating standards within the organization.

A significant milestone during Ms. Gustin’s tenure at Village Caregiving was the creation and implementation of a comprehensive training program in the fall of 2024. This initiative ensures that every new employee, regardless of location or experience, receives hands-on instruction from a nurse in the office before working in a client’s home. The program emphasizes safe practices for both clients and caregivers, prioritizing well-being and quality of care. Ms. Gustin takes pride in the positive feedback from caregivers, who have described the training as the best they have experienced with any agency.

Before her promotion to chief nursing officer, Ms. Gustin was a registered nurse at Village Caregiving LLC from 2021 to 2022. In this capacity, she contributed to direct patient care and supported the organization’s mission of providing compassionate home-based services. Recruited from Fresenius Medical Care North America, Ms. Gustin worked as a registered nurse specializing in dialysis between 2019 and 2021. Her responsibilities included managing complex patient needs and ensuring adherence to rigorous clinical protocols.

Ms. Gustin’s professional journey began at Cabell Huntington Hospital, where she served as a registered nurse for nearly 10 years, starting in 2010. During this period, she developed foundational skills in acute care settings.

Ms. Gustin’s academic background has been pivotal to her professional achievements. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, graduating in 2020. In addition to her formal education, she holds several professional credentials. She is recognized as a certified nursing assistant, licensed practical nurse and certified registered nurse. Ms. Gustin is currently pursuing a Master of Science in nursing with a focus on family nurse practitioner studies to further enhance her clinical knowledge and leadership capabilities.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Ms. Gustin is actively involved in civic life as a volunteer with local churches and her children’s school. Her contributions reflect a broader commitment to community service and support for families.

Ms. Gustin’s accomplishments have been recognized through several honors. During her tenure at Cabell Huntington Hospital, she earned several Patient Satisfaction Awards between 2011 and 2015, reflecting her dedication to delivering high-quality care. In 2025, she was named a Veteran VIP Honoree by McKnight’s Women of Distinction. Ms. Gustin attributes her success to the encouragement of her supportive family, mentors and colleagues who have fostered her continued growth.

Throughout her career, Ms. Gustin has encouraged nurses to treat everyone with dignity, love and respect, an approach she believes not only enhances professional performance but also supports healing during challenging times through genuine compassion and care. Looking ahead, she is committed to advocating for policy changes in home care. She seeks to raise awareness about the distinctions between home care and skilled home care while championing patient comfort during end-of-life care at home. Additionally, Ms. Gustin aims to highlight the cost-effectiveness of home-based services compared to institutional alternatives.
