April Dawn Hodges, RN-BSN, CCM, CDI, self-employed consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care.
Ms. Hodges has established a successful career in health care, currently excelling as a consultant, a role she transitioned into in 2024. Her previous experience includes division vice president at Innovista Health Solutions from 2019 to 2024, senior director of medical management at Innovista Health Solutions from 2019 to 2023, and a nurse aide in sports medicine. Laying a solid educational foundation, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in 2019 and holds certifications as a registered nurse, certified case manager, and clinical documentation improvement specialist. Throughout her career, she has led care management, coding, and quality control, implemented innovative patient programs, enhanced physician practices, and collaborated with the CDC to improve patient care. She streamlined hospital referrals, secured vital supplies, and developed programs to optimize patient outcomes.
Reflecting on her path, prior to becoming a nurse, Ms. Hodges worked as a nurse’s aide in sports medicine, contributing to a total of 30 years in the health care field. As director of case management, she ensured proper documentation and billing, which led to her promotion to oversee 32 hospitals nationwide. Additionally, she provided compassionate support to families and developed programs on advanced care planning and end-of-life care. In light of her impressive undertakings, she was honored with the Vice President of the Quarter Award and Director of the Quarter Award. She attributes her success to the influential women in her life, overcoming learning challenges, and the support of her husband and mother-in-law, as well as her deep-rooted Christian faith. In the coming years, she plans to pursue further education to enhance her skills and knowledge, with the ultimate goal of becoming a lobbyist to bring about positive change in her field.
