She is also affiliated with the Beta Beta Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in Houston. Laying a solid foundation for her future success, she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal, a Master of Science in Nursing as a pediatric nurse practitioner from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston), Cizik School of Nursing, a Master of Public Health in community health practice from UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, and a PhD in nursing science from Texas Woman’s University. She also holds certifications from the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

Reflecting on her career path, Dr. Gautam began as a nurse practitioner at Texas Children’s Hospital in the physical medicine and rehabilitation specialty. She also served as a clinical instructor at Baylor College of Medicine and practiced in that specialty for two years before moving to inpatient pediatric cardiology at Texas Children’s Hospital for a year. Seeking to focus on health promotion and disease prevention, she transitioned to primary care, where she practiced for more than seven years. She ultimately chose nursing to make a significant impact on people’s health, as she is passionate about improving community health and believes much work still needs to be done. She attributes her success to knowing her goals, understanding her life’s purpose, and staying motivated to achieve them. In the coming years, she aims to focus on serving children with autism spectrum disorder and their families. Her advice to aspiring professionals is to learn every step to build a strong foundation. She believes that gaining knowledge is empowering, and once you have a strong foundation, you can excel in any field, work with any population, and make significant contributions to society.
