A native of Nigeria, Ms. Austine was driven toward a career in healthcare after witnessing her father, younger brother, and grandmother all pass from illnesses that could have been treated properly under adequate care conditions. Quickly learning about the U.S. healthcare system from her sister-in-law upon her arrival to the country in 2006, she subsequently pursued a formal education at Manhattan Community College, from which she earned an associate’s degree. Ms. Austine eventually concluded her academic efforts at Walden University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, magna cum laude.

With many years of practical experience to her credit, Ms. Austine has excelled as a registered nurse with NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, part of the NewYork-Presbyterian system, since 2013. Operating primarily in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit, her responsibilities include stabilizing patients admitted to the intensive care unit, especially during the first hour of their emergency. Prior to this role, Ms. Austine began her career as a nursing assistant, clerk and nurse, training in the latter position over the course of her undergraduate studies.

Outside of her immediate circles, Ms. Austine has contributed to her community as a volunteer for local soup kitchens. She has also participated in medical missions in relation to her areas of expertise. Moreover, she has maintained her affiliation with the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. In her spare time, Ms. Austine enjoys traveling and remaining up-to-date with developments in her field via nursing journals.

Ms. Austine attributes her wealth of success to her thirst for knowledge, surrounding herself with experienced people who can teach her something new in her industry and collaborate with her effectively. Among the highlights of her career, she is incredibly proud of becoming a registered nurse, as her passion for nursing allows her to overcome the challenges associated with the profession. Looking toward the future, she hopes to obtain her doctorate in nursing while simultaneously giving back to those in need through more international medical missions. Likewise, Ms. Austine hopes to co-establish a medical bar that would offer patrons IV hydration, ketamine and aesthetics in order to restore vitality.
