Title: Nurse Practitioner
Company: Metropolitan Jewish Health System
Location: New York, New York, United States

Mary Drayton, Nurse Practitioner at Metropolitan Jewish Health System (MJHS), has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing.

With decades of experience to her credit, Dr. Drayton has excelled as a nurse practitioner at MJHS since 2020. She began her career as a mental health psychiatric nurse before establishing herself at MJHS as a family therapy nurse. Subsequent to this position, she excelled as a hospice and palliative care nurse.

To support her professional ambitions, Dr. Drayton pursued an education at Long Island University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She continued her academic efforts and completed a master’s degree in psychiatric nursing at Hunter College. Dr. Drayton would later graduate from New York University with a master’s degree in palliative care nursing in 2000. She concluded her studies at Kingdom College, acquiring a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine in 2008.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Drayton has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She undertook two years of training as a family therapist at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. Moreover, her research in palliative care has been published in relevant medical journals, and she is a published poet.

In addition to her primary vocation, Dr. Drayton remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She is a member of the American Nurses Association and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, from which she was presented with the Palliative Care Award.

Dr. Drayton attributes her success to her ability to listen and her enthusiasm for learning. She pursued multiple approaches and disciplines during her professional development and as a former preceptor for New York University’s nurse practitioner program, she encouraged her students to keep growing. While completing her doctorate in naturopathy, she studied acupuncture and aromatherapy, and her private practice has involved integrative medicine for three years.

Dr. Drayton feels fortunate to have been trained in family therapy and as a hospice and palliative care practitioner. In the immediate future, she sees herself retiring, but intends to remain in hospice and palliative care while practicing integrative medicine. Dr. Drayton hopes to continue publishing her writings, which started as a novel but morphed into a mixture of inspirational and motivational pieces that she wants to organize cohesively.
