With more than 30 years of experience to her credit, Ms. McCaskill has excelled as an adult nurse practitioner with the New York-Presbyterian Westchester Medical Group since 2022. She was previously active in a number of positions with New York-Presbyterian Hospital between 2010 and 2022, including as a lung transplant coordinator, a project lead for information services, an epic ambulatory credential trainer and a systems educational partner. Moreover, she served at the Hospital for Special Surgery as a clinical nurse in the post-anesthesia care unit from 1997 to 2001, a per-diem nurse in the aforementioned unit from 2002 to 2017 and a weekend discharge planner from 2018 to 2021. She additionally worked as a registered nurse with the Mount Sinai Health System from 2001 to 2008 and a registered nurse case manager with NYU Langone Medical Center from 2008 to 2010. Ms. McCaskill began her career as a clinical nurse with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) between 1992 and 1996.
To support her professional ambitions, Ms. McCaskill pursued an education at Dominican University, from which she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2003. She concluded her studies at Columbia University in 2010, graduating from the Teacher’s College with a Master of Arts in the executive program for nurses. Attributing her success to her perseverance, she has further earned myriad certifications from Epic, the American Heart Association, Long Island University, the American Nurses Association and APMG International, among other institutions. Inspired by her nurse practitioner professor, she fondly recalls shifting her attention to the information technology industry between 2012 and 2022 prior to returning to the field of healthcare. Looking toward the future, Ms. McCaskill hopes to establish herself as a nurse entrepreneur, open a beauty and wellness business and continue to advocate for young nurses of color to remain dedicated to their career path.
