Roxan L. Hammer, neonatal transport registered nurse at UnityPoint Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the health care industry.
With four decades of experience to her credit, Ms. Hammer has excelled in the field of nursing. Specializing in neonatal care, she has operated in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, Iowa, since 1984. Additionally, since 1987, she has excelled as a neonatal transport registered nurse for the institution. As part of her duties in the field, she handles high risk infant deliveries and transport babies in need of surgery. Ms. Hammer also serves as a mentor to other aspiring nurses, instructing others in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and the S.T.A.B.L.E. Program.
As part of her dedication to her profession, Ms. Hammer remains active as a member of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) and the Iowa Association of Neonatal Nurses. In her own academic pursuits, she ultimately achieved a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Drake University in 1990, having previously earned her certification as a registered nurse in 1989. Outside of her primary vocational endeavors, she also remains active as a volunteer at her local church. Attributing much of her success to her passion for her profession and the guidance of her own mentors, Ms. Hammer is proud of all of her work alongside her neonatal transport and intensive care teams.
