Annie Ruth Smith, Retired Registered Nurse, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care, first aid and medication administration.

Now retired, Ms. Smith is an accomplished nursing professional with decades of experience to her credit. For five years, she was a nurse at St. Anne Day Care, and for 17 years, she worked as a certified nursing assistant, registered nurse and ward clerk. Ms. Smith spent 25 years working for Milwaukee County Hospital as a nurse and served for a decade with SET Ministry. In 2013, she was named a Faces of Hope Honoree by the Wisconsin African American Women’s Center. In 1990, she received the Woman of the Year Award from the Business and Professional Women’s Foundation.

In preparation for her career, Ms. Smith earned an associate degree and graduated with a three-year Registered Nurse diploma from the Deaconess Health System School of Nursing in 1984. To keep abreast of her field, she was a past member of the Milwaukee Chapter of the National Black Nurses Association Inc. and the Business and Professional Women’s Foundation. Ms. Smith maintained membership with the League of Women Voters and the National Association of Investors Corporation. In her spare time, she enjoys bowling, creating bead jewelry and attending her book club.
