Since 2003, Ms. Oliver has excelled as a clinical nurse specialist for pain management and coordinator at Swedish Hospital, part of the NorthShore University HealthSystem. Prior to this role, she was a clinical nurse specialist for pain management and medical/surgical nursing at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center with Advocate Health Care from 1997 to 2003. From 1995 to 1997, she was an educator in the training and organizational development department at Mount Sinai Hospital Medical Center. Alongside her primary endeavors, Ms. Oliver was the lead author of the chapter on pain and substance use disorders in the American Society of Pain Management Nursing’s “Core Curriculum Textbook” in 2016. She has also contributed articles to professional publications and served as a presenter in her field.

In preparation for her career, Ms. Oliver graduated with highest honors from the West Suburban Hospital School of Nursing with a registered nurse diploma in 1974. In 1976, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois Medical Center. Ms. Oliver concluded her higher education at the Rush University College of Nursing, graduating with a Master of Science in Nursing, with honors, in 2000. Eminently qualified, she holds numerous professional credentials, including certification in Advance Practice Pain Management Nursing from the American Society for Pain Management Nursing and certification in Pain Management Nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

For her accomplishments, Ms. Oliver was named to the Circle of Excellence at Swedish Hospital in 2005. She received the Jean Gurvean Award for New Member Excellence from the American Society for Pain Management Nursing’s national convention in 2003. To keep abreast of her field, she is a member of the board of directors and the education committee of the American Society of Pain Management Nursing. Ms. Oliver is also a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau. In the coming years, she hopes to write and publish more work in collaboration with her colleague.
