Terry Montes Sanchez, BSN, RN, CDCES, Pediatric Diabetes Educator at El Paso Children’s Hospital, and Nurse Educator at the El Paso Diabetes Association, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in diabetes education.
As a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), Ms. Sanchez has excelled since 2020 as a pediatric diabetes educator at the El Paso Children’s Hospital. Alongside this position, she has been a nurse educator with the El Paso Diabetes Association and a diabetes coordinator for the Del Sol Diabetes Treatment Center in El Paso. Ms. Sanchez holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which she earned from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1984, and is a Registered Nurse. Prior to her current positions, she was a hospice nurse with the Visiting Nurses Association and a clinical and theory instructor at a local college.
For her professional excellence, Ms. Sanchez earned a Teacher of the Year award from the local college where she taught and was named Hospice Nurse of the Year by the Visiting Nurses Association in 2005. She has maintained membership with the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists and contributes her time by giving talks about diabetes and healthy eating at a local church. Ms. Sanchez attributes her success to her faith in God and her desire to help others. In the future, she plans to continue working in diabetes education, as it is her passion.
