Title: Registered Nurse
Location: Mansfield, Texas, United States
Melissa Kay McKinney, RN, CCRN, Registered Nurse, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in critical care.
With years of experience to her credit, Ms. McKinney has previously excelled as a registered nurse operating out of an emergency room, a critical care unit, an intensive care unit and a catheterization laboratory for a number of years. Prior to embarking upon her professional path, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisiana Monroe in 2012. Currently, Ms. McKinney is dedicating her time and attention to pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in nurse anesthesia and a registered nurse anesthetist credential at Texas Wesleyan University.
Beyond her primary responsibilities, Ms. McKinney has been affiliated with Health Freedom Louisiana. In 2021, she spoke on behalf of the aforementioned organization before the Louisiana State House Health and Welfare’s hearing to discuss adverse events relating to the COVID-19 vaccine and faulty reporting to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System. In addition to her involvement with Health Freedom Louisiana, Ms. McKinney has been active as a pre-school teacher and a basketball team coach for her children in recent years.
Ms. McKinney attributes her success to her strong faith and her ability to remain true to God and her patients. She is also renowned among her peers for her passion, compassion, patience and her willingness to learn. As a testament to her accomplishments in her field, Ms. McKinney was presented with a Patient Satisfaction Award.
Inspired to become the person that people can turn to in their time of need by tragic events from her own childhood, Ms. McKinney was further motivated by her own experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which time she saw patients treated differently and many things in her field stopped making sense. A tireless patient advocate, she hopes to establish a nursing education initiative at a trauma hospital in Indiana to help better care for those in need. In the coming years, Ms. McKinney hopes to complete her doctorate and CRNA credential while attempting to improve the healthcare system by solving common healthcare and insurance problems that would allow people to receive holistic care.
