Sara Bow, retired charge nurse at the Big Bend Regional Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the health care industry.
With over 50 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Bow is a proven expert in the field of patient care. For the length of her career, she primarily served as a charge nurse for Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine, Texas. In this role, she assisted countless patients on a regular basis, tutored fellow nurses and ensured all doctors’ orders regarding patient needs were carried out accordingly. Well-regarded for her accomplishments in the field, Ms. Bow was recognized as Employee of the Month on two occasions and Nurse of the Year in 2004.
Having retired from professional nursing work in 2018, Ms. Bow currently remains active in her community as a civic-minded citizen. To wit, she has served as an ambassador for her hometown of Alpine, Texas, for many years, in addition to operating as a member of the International Good Neighbor Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering positive relations between Texas and Mexico. Additionally, Ms. Bow has long volunteered with Sunshine House Inc., a local senior citizen center, and at her local Baptist church.
Ms. Bow was inspired to pursue a career in nursing after having her appendix removed at the age of 12, during which time she grew to appreciate the work of the registered nurse who attended to her. As part of her own vocational journey, she pursued a formal education, beginning with her time at Angelo State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1996. Ms. Bow subsequently continued her studies at Walden University and achieved a Master of Science in Nursing in 2010.
In light of her accomplished career, Ms. Bow largely attributes her success to the love and support of her late husband, Jack. Accounting for her many achievements, she is most notably proud to have earned her master’s degree. In the coming years, Ms. Bow looks forward to continuing her efforts in helping others for as long as she can.
