Retired since 2017 as a hospice supervisor with the Sisters of Providence Health System, Ms. Gustavson Watts is an accomplished nursing professional with more than 35 years of experience. She began her career in various roles with the Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois, from 1979 to 1987. From 1987 to 1989, she worked with the St. Vincent Hospital, and from 1989 to 1991, she was a staff and relief charge nurse in the general outpatient unit at St. Vincent Hospital. From 1991 to 1996, Ms. Gustavson Watts was a charge nurse in the inpatient oncology unit at the same hospital, and from 1996 to 2008 she worked as a nurse manager in Portland, Oregon, before starting her position with the Sisters of Providence Health System.

In preparation for her career in health care, Ms. Gustavson Watts attended Loyola University Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1975. She continued her studies at the same institution and graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Returning to her higher education later in her career, Ms. Gustavson Watts obtained a Master of Business Administration with a minor in health care administration from the City University of Bellingham in 1998. She attributes her success to her adaptability, and in the coming years, she hopes to remain healthy and care for her beloved partner.
