Ms. Casagrande prepared for her career in nursing at Cerritos College, where she earned an associate degree in nursing in 1989. She continued her higher education at Walden University, graduating with a Master of Science in Nursing in leadership and management in 2012. In 2018, she concluded her higher education at California State University, Fullerton, earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice.
With decades of experience to her credit, Dr. Casagrande began her career as a staff registered nurse with Kaiser Permanente Hospital from 1989 to 1991. She later served as a staff registered nurse and research nurse at the USC Kenneth Norris Cancer Hospital and a clinical practice manager for the USC Department of Colorectal Surgery. To keep abreast of developments in the nursing profession, Dr. Casagrande is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, among other professional affiliations.
For her accomplishments, Dr. Casagrande was recognized as Nurse Mentor of the Year by the Nurses of USC in 2022. The Los Angeles Business Journal additionally named her to Women of Influence in Health Care in 2022, and in 2021 she was the recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Champions of Humanistic Care award. The Keck Medical Center of USC designated her a COVID All Star in 2020, and in 2013 she earned a Nurse Humanitarian of the Year award. Dr. Casagrande attributes her success to her work ethic and professional mentors. In the coming years, she hopes to write a book chronicling her experiences.
