Ms. Walker attended Angelina Community College and earned an associate degree in nursing in 1975. In addition to her primary degree, she is certified in gerontological nursing. Since 2021, she has been a part-time registered nurse with Cantex, and she previously worked as a nurse surveyor and investigator with the Department of Aged and Disability Services from 2000 to 2020. Ms. Walker was the director of nurses for a nursing facility in Woodville from 1991 to 2000 and a charge nurse from 1988 to 1991.
Ms. Walker is a member of the American Nurses Association. She attributes her success to her love of the profession, as she has always wanted to be a nurse. Among her career accomplishments, she considers her work at the nursing facility in Woodville to be her most notable achievement. After only working as a charge nurse for less than a year, Ms. Walker was promoted to director of nursing, a post she held for nine years. In her spare time, she enjoys playing word games with friends, doing crossword puzzles, traveling, and spending time with her family. In the coming years, she wants to continue caring for the elderly population.
