Dawn Marie Spratke, Doctorate of Nursing Education, Registered Nurse at Garden City Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical and surgical nursing.
Drawing on 37 years of professional experience, Dr. Spratke has excelled in her role as a nurse educator at Garden City Hospital since 2021, as well as a surgical staff nurse at the hospital’s Surgery Center as of 2022. She holds responsibility for new hire orientations, as well as the implementation and completion of yearly competencies for nurses and nurse assistants, product and policies training, and preoperative care of surgical patients for outpatient surgery.
Dr. Spratke previously served as a nurse educator at various institutions, including the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan between 2018 and 2020 and Detroit Receiving Hospital, where she also worked as a burn unit coordinator, from 2016 to 2018. She began her career as a staff nurse at William Beaumont Hospital from 1985 until 2010 and continued her vocation as a staff nurse at Ascension Providence Hospital between 2010 and 2015, while concurrently serving as a faculty nurse at Baker College from 2014 to 2016.
Having accrued an extensive academic background, Dr. Spratke is particularly proud of earning her doctorate in nursing education from Northcentral University in 2021 at age 59. She also achieved an education specialist degree in 2019 from the same institution. In 2009, she obtained master’s degrees in business administration and nursing from the University of Phoenix. Earlier, she received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Madonna University in 1993 and earned a practical nurses license at the Shapiro School of Nursing in 1985.
Long committed to her field, Dr. Spratke holds certifications in advanced trauma care nursing and as a basic life support instructor. Furthermore, she has been active as a member with the National Honor Society at Northcentral University. Among her many professional accomplishments, she especially takes pride in serving as a nurse educator for a level-one trauma hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She attributes much of her success to her perseverance and love of challenges, along with the support of her family and friends. Looking toward the future, Dr. Spratke aspires to establish her own nursing school.
