Prior to this appointment, she served as a registered nurse at the Maine Medical Center in Portland from 1997 to 2014 and Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, Maine from 2008 to 2013. She previously worked as the director of surgical services at the Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, Maine from 1995 to 1997 and an operating room nurse manager at Cooley Dickinson Health Care in Northampton, Massachusetts from 1994 to 1995. Ms. Boyd began her career as an advanced surgery coordinator with St. Luke’s Hospital from 1992 to 1994.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Boyd pursued an education at the University of Vermont, from which she obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing science in 1975. Beyond her primary responsibilities, she remains affiliated with the Association of Operating Room Nurses. Attributing her success to achieving a work-life balance while finding success in her job and receiving the support of her family, she is incredibly proud of her ability to adapt to the frequent changes in technology and surgical techniques as well as the opportunity to build a team and collaborate with her colleagues. An accomplished mentor in her field, Ms. Boyd hopes to continue her work in contracted international program management for the U.S. Department of State while advancing to greater administrative positions.
