With more than 10 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Brown-Smith has excelled as the chief compliance and nursing officer for the Charlotte Community Health Clinic in North Carolina since 2021. Prior to this appointment, she worked as the nursing manager for quality assurance and clinical practice with the aforementioned clinic between 2017 and 2021. She previously served as a nurse manager for Piedmont Health Services Inc. in Burlington, North Carolina from 2014 to 2016. Dr. Brown-Smith began her career as a registered nurse with Cone Health in North Carolina from 2012 to 2018.
Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Brown-Smith pursued an education at Queens University of Charlotte, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011. She concluded her studies at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2021, graduating with a Doctor of Nursing Practice in adult-gerontology nurse practice. In addition to her primary responsibilities, she is active as a member of the operations board for the KM Elite Club and spoke to church leaders in her community about the importance of vaccination during the COVID-19 pandemic. The recipient of the 2014 I Care Award, she has been likewise presented with multiple Quality Awards from the Charlotte Community Health Clinic. Attributing her success to her passion, drive and perseverance as well as the support of her family, Dr. Brown-Smith hopes to accrue full practice authority in her state in the coming years while providing her support to the North Carolina Nurses Association and American Nurses Association and eventually establishing her own practice led by diverse and versatile women.
