Title: Head Nurse, Renal Transplant Unit
Company: University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center
Location: Jonesboro, Arkansas, United States

Levita Lingo, Head Nurse at Renal Transplant Unit, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in assisting patients with kidney transplants.

Ms. Lingo began her career as a secretary. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1958, Ms. Lingo provided superior care as a registered nurse with Veterans Affairs Hospital and a Catholic hospital in Georgia and from 1964 to 1998 as head nurse in the renal transplant unit of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center in Little Rock.

Ms. Lingo attributes this success in progressing from secretarial work to nursing to having someone who really encouraged her and opened the doors for her. However, what really contributed to her success throughout the years was the love that she had for what she was doing as a nurse. As a career highlight, she cites the bravery that she had to have even considered working as a transplant nurse in her early years in the profession. It was quite an accomplishment because even though she did not really want to go to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at first, she ended up staying there for decades.
