After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in biology, with an emphasis in ecology and evolution with the University of California Santa Cruz in 2006, Ms. King subsequently earned an Associate of Science in nursing from City College of San Francisco in 2013 and continued her education with a Bachelor of Science in nursing and public health from Chamberlain University College of Nursing in 2017. She is certified as a trauma nurse and in advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS) and basic life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation by the American Heart Association, among other disciplines.
With SoHum Health-Jerold Phelps Community Hospital in Garberville, California, Ms. King has provided superior care as acute staff nurse in the emergency department from 2014 to 2015, nurse supervisor from 2015 to 2016, assistant emergency department acute nurse manager from 2016 to 2017, interim skilled nursing director from 2017 to 2018, and resource nursing director in 2018. Her responsibilities included supervision of nursing staff and supportive personnel, coordinating appropriate budgets, conducting interviews and making hiring decisions. Since 2018, Ms. King has flourished as a resource nurse with Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, California. In 2021, in what she considers to be a career highlight, she won the DAISY Award given to nurses who provide extraordinary compassionate care. Though Ms. King hopes to be able to care for patients for the rest of her life, she is interested in being able to branch out and mentor the next generation of nurses who are committed to making a difference in the lives of patients.
