Title: Registered Nurse
Company: Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital; Westchester Medical Center
Location: Tappan, New York, United States
MaryKatelyn Albin, Registered Nurse at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in intensive care pediatric nursing.
As a certified emergency medical technician (EMT) and registered nurse with a demonstrated history of working in the prehospital healthcare setting, Ms. Albin is skilled in patient assessments and care, collaborative care, emergency services, event planning, fundraising and crisis intervention. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2016 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2017 from the College at Brockport, State University of New York, Ms. Albin is currently pursuing a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner with Dominican University New York in Orangeburg, New York.
Ms. Albin has found much success as an EMT with the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps since 2011 as well as with the Haverstraw Ambulance Corps and the New City Ambulance Corps between 2013 and 2021. Additionally, she has provided superior care as a registered nurse with Montefiore Nyack Hospital in Nyack, New York from 2018 to 2020 and with Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center network, in Valhalla, New York since 2019. With Fareri Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, she is responsible for the assignment boards for any incoming patients, troubleshooting with fellow nurses any issues that arise in the unit, or any emergency in the hospital.
Coming from a family in which both her parents were emergency room nurses, Ms. Albin was attracted to the “controlled chaos” of the intensive care unit and also gravitated toward pediatrics: having been a patient as a child at the very hospital where she now works factored heavily in her decision to enter pediatric nursing. As a career highlight, she cites being able to rehabilitate a teenage patient through hard work, collaborative effort and determination. Her immediate goal is to finish her master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner and to develop an individual nursing practice.
