Ashley N. Colnett, BSN, RN, CDCES, CSN, Registered Nurse at Morristown Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in healthcare.

Ms. Colnett suffered from chronic asthma and health problems as a child. The school nurse who took care of her during bouts of ill health inspired her to pursue a career and a lifetime in nursing. She subsequently obtained a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey in 2010. She is a registered nurse, certified diabetes and education specialist and a certified school nurse. After a chance encounter where she treated children with diabetes early in her career, she decided upon her specialty.

Since 2019, Ms. Colnett has been providing her nursing skills at the Adult Diabetes Center at Morristown Medical Center Outpatient Medicine in Morris Township, New Jersey. She previously worked at the Diabetes and Nutrition Center at Newtown Medical Center in Newtown, Pennsylvania and the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Somerset in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She has also served as a volunteer summer camp cabin nurse for the Camp Nejeda Foundation, Inc. in Stillwater, New Jersey since 2012.

Ms. Colnett was the class valedictorian for her college graduating class and was honored with the Lester Z. Lieberman Humanism Award from the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey. She is a member of the International Nursing Honors Society, the American Diabetes Association, the International Nursing Association and American Association of Diabetes Educators. She plans to work more with diabetes technology and innovations that will become the future of patient care over the next five years. She has focused on what makes her passionate and aligns her personal values with her career, which led her toward caring for children and specializing in diabetes care in particular. Her goal is to put her patients first.

Ms. Colnett is incredibly grateful to help educate patients about their own diabetes care. She has met many mentors along the way during her own career, which inspired her to share her knowledge and experience with others.
