Kevin Harris, System Director of Nursing at Houston Methodist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing administration.
Following obtaining a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 2004 from Jacksonville State University, Alabama, where he earned certification as a registered nurse, Mr. Harris later continued his education with a Master of Science in Nursing in healthcare system management from Loyola University in New Orleans in 2015. He holds a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and is a registered nurse in Louisiana and Texas as well as Nurse Executive Board Certified.
From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Harris provided superior care as a registered nurse with West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, Louisiana. He subsequently ascended to the positions of nursing supervisor in 2011 and clinical director of women, infants and children nursing services in 2012. Mr. Harris then joined Houston Methodist, for which he excelled from 2015 to 2017 as manager of nursing resources, observation units and informatics and director and manager of central staffing, nursing operations, regional flex and system staff scheduling from 2017 to 2021.
Since 2021, Mr. Harris has prospered as Houston Methodist’s system director of nursing, where he has specialized in talent-for-process-improvement initiatives that enhance corporate operational efficiency, drive hospital-based workflow, boost productivity, maximize performance, and promote patient satisfaction. He acts as a community-minded leader and relationship-builder, consistently securing and maintaining key partnerships with area hospitals, stakeholders, and workforce to support long-term planning, and has established a reputation for dynamic, cross-functional leadership, galvanizing high-performing teams that exceed standards and championing team-oriented culture through innovative management.
In recognition of his administrative abilities, Mr. Harris has been honored with a Daisy Award, Clinical Leadership Award and as a New Orleans City Business Healthcare Hero and has been named to the Great 100 Nurses of Louisiana, received a Nurse Leadership Award in 2016 and a Good Samaritan Bronze Award in Nursing Excellence the same year. His professional memberships include the American Nurses Association, Texas Nurses Association, American College of Healthcare Executives and Texas Alliance for Patient Services (TAPS).
