Jennifer K. Brumfield, RN, CCRC, MHS, director of population health at United Healthcare, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing.
Ms. Brumfield has dedicated her career to developing tools, projects, programs and policies to reduce the social determinants of health barriers within the state of Mississippi. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and earned her master’s degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2013. As a nurse of nearly 15 years, her work has included clinical research for infectious disease control and nearly a decade as a hospital management coordinator at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. As the director of population health, she works directly with patients and community members to bridge the gap between education and healthcare outcomes.
For her contributions in the field, Ms. Brumfield has been named a Williamson Scholar of the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She maintains professional affiliations with the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, the Mississippi Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association. Looking toward the future, she hopes to complete her Ph.D. and to continue to improve the health of the many communities within Mississippi and reduce disparity among the state through providing access to healthcare and healthier eating options. Above all, she attributes her success to the mentorship she has received and her passion for science and taking care of people.
