Lois A. McCullough, RN, BSN, a health careers instructor at the Autry Technology Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in science and vocational education.
Ms. McCullough is a healthcare and science teacher with more than 15 years of experience working with students of all ages. She entered the healthcare field in the early 2000s, when her family relocated to an area with more job opportunities for her husband, a firefighter, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Oklahoma in 2005. Ms. McCullough began working in education the following year when she became the school nurse for the Oklahoma Bible Academy. In addition to providing nursing services, Ms. McCullough also taught physiology and discovery therapy classes to students at the school, initiating her passion for introducing students to medical science.
Since 2018, Ms. McCullough has been a health careers instructor at the Autry Technology Center in Enid, Oklahoma, where she leads a groundbreaking vocational training and introductory medicine program for high school juniors and seniors. With coursework including anatomy, medical terminology, and long-term care certified nursing skills, the program has been featured in local media outlets and lauded as a strong foundation for students interested in pursuing medical careers.
Ms. McCullough is a licensed registered nurse and American Heart Association CPR instructor, and holds level three certification from the National Institute for Learning Disabilities. She is an advisor for Future Health Professionals/HOSA, and volunteers with local faith-based youth services programs including For Our Kids and her church’s Vacation Bible School program. Ms. McCullough credits her success to her mother, who convinced her to enroll in nursing school, and to her faith, which remains a cornerstone of her life. When not teaching, Ms. McCullough enjoys painting and spending time with her family enjoying the outdoors.
