Colleen A. Lenz, RN, Staff Nurse at Littauer Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical and surgical nursing.
Applying her lifelong passion for nursing, Ms. Lenz has dedicated her career to providing assistance to pediatric, surgical and medical patients. Tasked with helping her grandmother who suffered a stroke, she developed an interest in pursuing a career within the healthcare field from a young age. As a result, she obtained an Associate’s degree in nursing from Columbia Memorial Hospital in 1987. Certified in advanced cardiac life support and as an oncology provider, she began her career as a charge nurse at Bassett Hospital, lasting through 1994. Thereafter, she has found additional success as a staff nurse within the surgical unit at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital.
No matter how devastating the condition of her patients, Ms. Lenz remains dedicated to seeing their treatment through until they are able to attend rehabilitation. Over the course of her career, she has maintained professional affiliations with the New York State Nurses Association and the Oncology Nursing Society. For her contributions to the field of nursing, she is honored to have been presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. She attributes her success to her mentors and colleagues with whom she has been fortunate enough to collaborate. Above all, she aims to be remembered as a nurse who brought joy while providing compassion and a spark of hope to each and every one of her patients.
