Dawn E. Boechler, RN, ADN, BS, MPAHC, Volunteer Nurse, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing.
Hailing from a family of nurses, Ms. Boechler desired to follow in the footsteps of her mother and sister into the nursing field. She started out as a nurse’s aide at Clinton Memorial Hospital in St. John’s Michigan while working toward an Associate’s degree from Lansing Community College, graduating in 1967, and received a degree in nursing in 1972, opening the door further into her career. In addition, Ms. Boechler earned a Bachelor of Science in 1982 and a Master of Public Administration in healthcare administration in 1991. She is also certified as a nurse administrator by the American Nurses Association.
Progressing in her professional endeavors, Ms. Boechler rose from a staff nurse to assistant head nurse to head nurse at Sparrow Hospital over the span of a decade before serving as a department manager from 1982 to 1987. Subsequently, she was an office nurse for Dr. R. Swenson from 1988 to 2000 and a nurse administrator at Michigan State University’s Student Health Service for 13 years until 2013, during which she helped spearhead neighborhood clinics in four dormitory settings on campus. Reflecting on her diverse career, Ms. Boechler is most fond of her time in neurology, in which she contributed to establishing the first neurological-intensive care unit (NCU) at Sparrow Hospital and the first Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit. Today, she utilizes her time as a volunteer in administering COVID-19 vaccines. To attest to her legacy, Ms. Boechler is also listed in the fourth and fifth editions of Who’s Who in American Nursing.
