Sherry Fontini RN, BSN, MSN, Registered Nurse at VNA Hospice & Home Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing.
Ms. Fontini notably joined the U.S. Army National Guard in 1989, where she remained until 2011. While in the military, she learned to be focused and attentive and took these skills into her professional career. With this sentiment, she has been a nurse for 22 years, currently working as a nurse for the VNA Hospice and Home Health. In her role, she cares for patients who are limited to their homes, which she finds true fulfillment in doing. As a testament to her success, Ms. Fontini has received multiple military awards. Looking toward the future, she is hoping to be in the same nursing role and expand to other hospice places.
Ms. Fontini became involved in her military profession because she wanted help with her education. She went into basic training and ended up joining as a medic. Her father was a veteran and he told her whoever was going to give her more for her education would be the smartest decision, ultimately leading her to the U.S. Army National Guard route. She has never looked back. She recalls it was one of those things where everything fell into place. Ms. Fontini earned a Bachelor of Arts in nursing from Cedar Press College in 1998. Upon completion of her degree, she became a registered nurse in 1998 and then received a Master of Arts in nursing education from the University of Phoenix in 2014.
