Since her days taking care of her siblings, Ms. Dempsey has always assumed the role of a caretaker and leader throughout her life. Today, she is an adult nurse practitioner and health evaluator for Signify Health, a role she commenced in 2020. Prior, she served in the same role for the Matrix Medical Network for 10 years until 2019 and at the Presbyterian Medical Center Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania from 2003 to 2006. In addition, she has served in numerous roles through Bayada Supplemental Staffing between 2006 and 2009.

Alongside her primary roles, Ms. Dempsey has also taught at the collegiate level, having most recently been a clinical nurse educator and adjunct faculty member at the Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing in 2007 and 2008. Additionally, in 2007, she was also a clinical nurse educator at Holy Family University. Reflecting on her illustrious career, Ms. Dempsey attributes her success to her passion for elder care, along with the close relationship she has with her mother and her maternal grandparents. She plans to continue doing what she is doing for as long as possible. She was largely inspired by her sisters and has continued to be inspired by her family throughout her life, including her children.

After starting her family early in her life, Ms. Dempsey decided to return to school in order to begin the process of building a career. Initially, she started out as a student at Bucks County Community College in 1984, where she was named Most Motivated Person in the Goals Program. She then graduated from Holy Family University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Registered Nurse degree. In her first professional role, she was an acute care medical-surgical staff nurse in Pennsylvania for 17 years until 2004. Ms. Dempsey then achieved a Master of Science in Nursing and became a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner from La Salle University in 2003.

Ms. Dempsey’s two sisters have been her inspiration since she was very young. Her older sister Marie started working as an Administrative Assistant in high school and continues her successful career today. Her sister Eileen pursued a career as an accountant (CPA) after high school with community college and also remained successful in her career. Their early career successes incentivized Ms. Dempsey to go after her dream of becoming a nurse. She is also motivated by raising two children as a single parent. While an extremely challenging experience, it has also been equally as rewarding to watch her children, Ted and Terry, grow and strive for their own dreams. Ms. Dempsey’s journey has been full of supportive colleagues, friends, and family.
