Diane Wood, Licensed Practical Nurse at We Care Arundel and Dr. Lee Gresser MD LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing.
Upon graduating from a nursing program at South Jefferson High School in Adams, New York in 1975, Ms. Wood has gone on to lead an illustrious nursing career of nearly 35 years. Taking on various roles as a licensed practical nurse, she has served as the head nurse with We Care Arundel Health Services Methadone Treatment Center since 2016, as well as a nurse and office manager for Dr. Lee Gresser MD LLC since 2018. Prior, Ms. Wood worked for Memorial Healthcare Systems for 20 years, between 1996 and 2016, as a staff nurse, nurse supervisor and clinical director. Specializing in the addiction field, she has most enjoyed getting to watch patients become healthy and productive members of society. As an office manager, Ms. Wood has been instrumental in helping patients save money by working with them to optimize insurance and tax benefits. Additionally, she has been a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and 8/40.
Reflecting on her career, Ms. Wood attributes her success to the quote, “Smile, it makes everyone wonder what you are up to.” Over the years, she has learned to treat every patient equally and to never judge, as she believes God is the only one who should be making judgments. She adds that patients do not want to be judged, they want to be treated. To add to Ms. Wood’s credentials, she holds professional certifications as a human resources specialist and supervisor, along with a certificate of completion from Cross County University for Legal and Ethical Issues in Counseling and Social Work from 2003. In 2007, she became certified in culturally competent nursing care and in fundamentals of waived rapid HIV testing from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Likewise, she is a 2016 graduate of Penn Foster College. In five years’ time, Ms. Wood envisions herself settled into retirement while still contributing to her profession on a part-time basis. In her spare time, she enjoys crocheting, sewing and spending time on the computer.
