Carolyn May Bolander, RN, BSN, MEd, MSN, Retired Nurse and Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychiatry.

Growing up with a variety of health ailments, Ms. Bolander was consistently astounded by the healthcare professionals who helped her at every medical visit. The doctors and nurses always treated her with such kindness and care, which inspired her to pursue a career in medicine. She wanted to assist those in need, just as she once was. In 1972, Ms. Bolander graduated from Mary Manse College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In the years that followed, she earned a Master of Education from Xavier University, as well as a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati.

A certified registered nurse in Ohio, Ms. Bolander commenced her career as a nursing instructor at the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing. As she progressed in her field, she felt drawn to psychiatry and the realm of mental health, so she consequently converted her specialty to be able to practice in the field. In 2000, she took on the role of an associate professor of psychiatry at the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing. During this time, Ms. Bolander additionally excelled as an associate for the Collegiate Public and Research Network. In 2001, she retired from both nursing and education after more than 30 years of success. In her spare time, Ms. Bolander enjoys participating in church activities, as well as playing sports and practicing water aerobics. Looking toward the future, she hopes to stay active and healthy.
