Karen Freitag Craig, CCRC, Research Nurse, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in emergency nursing.
Since her youth, Ms. Craig had always wanted to pursue a career in which she could help others. Following this interest, she earned a diploma from the Charity Hospital School of Nursing in 1983. Several years afterward, she achieved a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State University of New York at Albany. Ms. Craig furthered her education with a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 1998. In the months following her graduation, she became a certified clinical research coordinator.
In 1984, Ms. Craig commenced her career as a staff nurse with the Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. From 1987 until 1988, she relocated to become a pediatric emergency room staff nurse at Charity Hospital. After serving as the ICU Unit Coordinator for the EENT Hospital, Ms. Craig was hired at the Tulane University School of Medicine. She remains there today, continuing to help every one of her patients to the best of her ability.
Reflecting on her accomplishments thus far, Ms. Craig can name several achievements of which she is incredibly proud. She is especially proud of her work in mentoring public health students for their research courses at Tulane University. In order to remain aware of advances in her field, she maintains affiliation with the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. Outside of her medical endeavors, Ms. Craig enjoys gardening and traveling. As a testament to her professional success, she is featured in the third edition of Who’s Who Among Human Service Professionals and the fourth and fifth editions of Who’s Who in American Nursing.
