Title: Retired Nurse
Location: Fresno, California, United States
Jane Martin, RN, BSN, CRRN, Retired Nurse, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in rehabilitation nursing.
From watching her mother nurse one of her sickly children to health, Ms. Martin was inspired to pursue a life dedicated to healing. She achieved a Bachelor of Science in English from Northwest Missouri State University in 1964 and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Fresno in 1975. Soon thereafter, she became a registered nurse and a certified rehabilitation registered nurse. Ms. Martin officially spearheaded her professional path in 1976 as a staff nurse and charge nurse on the rehabilitation floor at the Fresno Community Hospital and Medical Center, which she excelled in until 1990. For 23 years, from 1990 until her retirement in 2013, she notably served the San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital as a floor nurse, assistant head nurse, and acting head nurse.
A member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses, Ms. Martin found great success and reward throughout the course of her career. Named Nurse of the Year by the Fresno Community Hospital, she had also been twice named Employee of the Year by the San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital. Ms. Martin feels honored to have worked in a field where she had the ability to make a difference in people’s lives. With this sentiment, her advice to aspiring nurses is to not choose a career for the money, but rather the desire to impact the lives of those who need it the most. Looking ahead, Ms. Martin plans to continue working with her church and contributing to community outreach through food banks, yard sales for donation, and more. To attest to her career legacy, Ms. Martin can also be found in the fifth edition of Who’s Who in American Nursing.
