Michael D. Holt, RN at Danbury Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Nurses for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychiatric nursing.
Mr. Holt became involved in his work as a result of his desire to help others. Over several years, he came to the conclusion that a career as a psychiatric nurse would be the best way for him to accomplish his goal. After spending 35 years in the paper industry, he earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from Westchester Community College. With his newfound credentials, he acquired a position at Danbury Hospital in New York. He remains there today, alongside his parallel position at Putnam Hospital. Backed by ten years of experience in behavioral health, Mr. Hold is currently working toward a certification in psychology.
Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Holt actively contributes to local food pantries in his area, as well as to the Salvation Army. He additionally maintains affiliation with the Tappey Organization. Looking toward the future, he hopes to encourage the next generation of psychiatric nurses to develop a passion for their work, as they will often be working with individuals who are depressed and potentially suicidal. He feels much of his success comes from his ability to connect with his patients and make them comfortable. In five years, Mr. Holt is considering retirement. He hopes to be able to spend more time with his children and grandchildren.
