Kathy Burgos, BS, ASN, RN, Clinical Instructor at Concord College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nursing education.
Ms. Burgos became involved in her profession because of the encouragement she received from her family. Additionally, due to her son’s asthma, she naturally became more interested in the health care field in order to better care for her son’s needs. A graduate of Brevard Community College, Ms. Burgos earned an Associate of Arts in 1971. Soon thereafter, she received a Bachelor of Science in vocational education from Carson-Newman College in 1974. She continued her academic efforts with a license in vocational nursing from the Simi Valley Adult School in 1997. To conclude her nursing education, she completed an LVN to RN program with Excelsior University, Albany, New York. Upon completion of Excelsior’s program, she gained an ASN and after the national exam was licensed as a registered nurse.
Since 2018, Ms. Burgos has notably served as a clinical instructor at Concord College. Prior to this appointment, she was a clinical instructor as well as a nurse instructor at the Career Care Institute, Brightwood College and the Simi Valley Adult School between 2000 and 2018. Along with her teaching skills, Ms. Burgos had also spent time as an educator at the Hillcrest Christian School and First Baptist Academy. To remain aware of changes in the field, she maintains affiliation with the Simi Educators Association, the California Council for Adult Education, the California Teachers Association, the National Education Association and the American Nursing Association. Outside of her primary work, Ms. Burgos enjoys painting, baking, walking, gardening and listening to music in her spare time.
